Due to the tremendous increase in railroad traffic on this line going into the Holding Point Schlumberger gas drilling facilities, and the fact that this section of track had not been maintained or re-built since 1958, this line was re-built today to be able to handle the 100 ton hopper cars filled with fracking sand that is being delivered numerous times each week. I was expecting to see a bunch of shirtless, sweaty guys driving spikes and singing "I've Been Working on the Railroad'..Man, was I wrong!

These Norfolk Southern Rail Bed Repair guys on this crew if about 70 men hails mostly from the South..Tennessee, Alabama...and of course I caught up with them well after the "crack of Noon" when .....
6:00 Second Phase Crew Comes Through

A few hours later in the afternoon the next phase of workers makes their way through the Rebuild Zone....sliding the new ties into place...sweeping them off, sliding the alignment plates into pos.....
