ELMIRA, N.Y. - November 30, 2016 - The Elmira Jackals (4-10-3-0) extended their point streak to a season-high three games, but couldn't hold a third-period lead as the Kalamazoo Wings (7-10-0-2) won, 4-3, in overtime Wednesday at First Arena.

The Jackals got out of the first period with a 1-0 lead, on the strength of their special teams. The Jackals successfully killed two early K-Wings power plays and then they took advantage of their first power play. Kyle Rankin converted on a rebound in the slot for his second power-play goal of the season at 14:29. Greg Amlong was set up at the right point by J.P. LaFontaine and took a shot, which created the rebound for Rankin to give Elmira a 1-0 lead.
Kalamazoo had a strong start to the second period and they turned that into a tie game when Justin Taylor scored on a blast from the right circle at 7:09. Andy Iles got a piece of the shot, but it trickled over the goal line to even the game at one. Just over four minutes later, on their second power play of the night, the Jackals re-claimed the lead as Vaclav Karabacek snapped in a shot from the right circle for his first professional goal. Matt Lane picked up his first assist as a Jackal and Steven Kaunisto extended his point streak to three games on the goal, as the Jackals took a 2-1 lead into the third period.

The Wings had another strong start in the third period and got some puck luck to get two quick goals to take a 3-2 lead. Dajon Mingo got the first with a shot from the slot that went five hold on Iles, tying the game at two just 1:27 into the second period. Just 1:20 later, Taylor got credit for his second goal of the night, deflecting a point shot from Charlie Vasaturo to give the Wings their first lead.

Later in the third, Anthony Camara broke in on a breakaway and was hooked from behind, drawing a penalty shot at 8:22. Iles made a strong save on the penalty shot and the Jackals picked up on that momentum to tie the game at three a few minutes later. Justin Kea, who scored the overtime game-winning goal Sunday, started a 2-on-1 down the right wing. At the right circle he wristed a shot past Joel Martin to tie the game with 8:39 to play in regulation.

In overtime, Martin robbed Sebastien Sylvestre on back-to-back chances and the second led to a 2-on-1 for the Wings, which Taylor scored on to complete a hat trick and give Kalamazoo a 4-3 win.
