Friday November 11 vs The Brampton Beast
ELMIRA, N.Y. - November 11, 2016 - The Brampton Beast (4-1-1-2) scored two goals in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and beat the Elmira Jackals (2-6-2-0), 4-2, at First Arena Friday Night on Veterans Appreciation Night.
For the third time in four games, the Jackals opened the scoring in the first period. A Brampton player fanned on a shot at the left point in the Beast's offensive zone and Daultan Leveille raced it down and started a breakaway for the Jackals. He skated in on goal against Zachary Fucale, made a strong move and beat Fucale to the five hole at 8:42, giving the Jackals a 1-0 lead.
The Jackals led 1-0 into the second period, until the Beast scored on a strange bounce at 3:38 of the second. Mike Vernace was credited with the goal after the puck bounced off the glass, over the net and was put in to tie the game at one. Later in the period, David Pacan gave Brampton its first lead by firing home a rebound that was created off a shot from Jordan Henry at 12:51. Elmira clawed back to tie the game at two before the end of the second, with Leveille rushing down the right wing to create a scoring chance. His initial shot was stopped by Fucale, but Charlie Mosey pounced on the rebound for his second goal of the season at 17:17.
The Beast broke the 2-2 tie 5:03 into the third, with Luc-Olivier Blain scoring his first of the season, putting the Beast ahead, 3-2. Yannick Veilleux iced the game with an empty-net goal at 19:30, sending the Beast to a 4-2 win in the first of back-to-back games between the teams.
