Wednesday December 2, 2015 vs. the Kalamazoo K-Wings
ELMIRA, NY - December 2, 2015 - C.J. Motte made 25 saves and Allan McPherson added a goal and an assist in tonight's 4-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings.
The Jackals jumped out to an early lead as Cason Hohmann remained red-hot netting his team-leading 10th goal of the season. Colin Jacobs carried the puck in the zone and backhanded a pass to Spiro Goulakos at the point for a shot that was deflected in by Hohmann at 3:42 of the first period. The Jackals carried the lead late into the frame, but a turnover deep in their own end resulted in a Ludwig Blomstrand goal with 34 seconds remaining.
Unfazed by the late first period marker, the Jackals controlled the pace of play and the offensive opportunities, firing 15 shots on net in the second period to Kalamazoo's six. Just past the halfway mark of the period, Justin Kea worked the puck ahead to Allan McPherson who streamed in firing a shot that caused a loose puck in front that was banged home by Tyler Currier. The goal was discussed at length by the officiating crew, but the final decision was a good goal. At 14:42 of the frame the Jackals struck again and increased their lead to 3-1. Allan McPherson stepped out of the penalty box and accepted a stretch pass from Spiro Goulakos for a breakaway strike.
The Jackals added to their lead in the third period as Spiro Goulakos was whistled for a double-minor for high-sticking at 4:52. Just 18 seconds later Jacob MacDonald streamed down the right-wing side and fired a wrist shot off the post and past Joel Martin for a shorthanded tally. MacDonald's goal was his fifth of the season and came unassisted. C.J. Motte stood tall and thwarted any Kalamazoo shots the rest of the way en route to his fifth win of the season. A series of fights and misconducts unfolded in the final minute as tempers flared and the game was decided.
Motte stopped 25 of 26 shots faced for the win and Martin allowed four goals on 34 shots in the losing effort.
